LA MARATHON COUNTDOWN
Running the LA Marathon Means a Post-Race Party - Here are some ideas!
They say only 1% of people complete a marathon and I think running it…and hopefully crossing the finish line, is definitely an accomplishment worth celebrating!
I am having a party so here are the things I looked for in selecting a spot:
Good vibe in the daytime since I will want to go out right after I finish running and before I collapse
Somewhat flexible timing window since you never know when you are going to finish - I have a general idea but wanted a little buffer time
Allows you to bring in outside dessert since I wanted my own custom cookies and cake as a reward
Carbs on the menu….because I definitely want to indulge a little after being on a somewhat strict eating regimen
Here are a few sporty/casual spots where you can go post-marathon if you are running, or cheering on a runner post-race:
Santa Monica Brew Works - this is my personal winner since it is a nearby and I am a big fan of their beer. They have also partnered with Emmy Squared and serve some epic pizza and I plan to eat a lot of it....
Party Beer Co.- this is such a fun West Adams spot. They offer a plant-based menu and they even have their own running events for the community.
Everson Royce Bar - if you are located in DTLA - E.R.B. has an ample patio space that can host groups from 10 to 300 people with food platters, craft cocktails and buckets of beer. Plus...they have games...
Sorry Not Sorry - a pretty central spot West LA that considers itself a rosé and cocktail-forward beer garden and restaurant space. They also boast a 4000 sq. ft. patio great for larger parties
Waterfront - from the same owner as Butcher's Daughter, Waterfront recently got a full liquor license and is a total party vibe - there is a DJ and multiple spaces to hang, play games and grab a bite...plus you have some good people-watching along the boardwalk....
